The Atlanta show "recently unearthed in Iggy's private tape stash"? That's a crock of shit.

Remember the interview with Scott? He talks about this tape being offered to the band. He said they would probably buy it from the Atlanta guys. He also said that Iggy was reciting some poetry during the show.

I bet dollars to donuts, this is THAT tape

Choice bonus cuts? Probably the pre-Raw Power recordings (Tight Pants, Gimme Some Skin etc) but it would be great if some genuinely new stuff was issued.
Cheers,
Richard

brilliant! when/where did he say it?

i think has been on his mind for a while; raw power is stooges legacy but kill city is his (and iggys to an extent) so i think he wants it out in the best quality

This is great - especially since the better versions of Johanna and Consolation Prizes aren't even on the album. Personally - I think the version of Johanna from BOMP's Year of the Iguana and Consolation Prizes from BOMP's Motoer City's Burnin vol. 2 comp. are far superior.

It'd be great to hear more alternate mixes - especially of 'I got Nothin'.

I couldn't agree more. Johanna is FAR better on Year Of The Iguana.

Yep - no sax, cleaner guitars - overall different mix

I got Kill City on LP for christmas and after lsitening to it I wondered if this was supposed too be Iggy's jazz album with all that sax on there, the sound was so muddy it was like him singing over traffic noise with a busker on a street corner

Mixing is an art. I'll be curious as to whether or not the saxes are mixed down for better effect as opposed to removed entirely. Producer Allan Toussaint, the great funk/R&B guy, was known for his tasteful use of horns: they're always there, but as an element, not a lead sound.

Aren't we veering into revisionism if instruments are mixed down or out?

Like what Ig was accused of for RP '97.

Not that I wouldnt mind a bit more balls to sum of those Kill City songs.
