| Does anybody here know any good pedals which will give me a good Ron Asheton wah wah effect? I've already got a fuzzbox but Real Cool Time doesn't sound as good without the beloved wah wah. Help? _________________

| yeah - wouldn't that be good to know!
Then all I'd need would be all the relevant equipment, some guitar lessons from the man himself... ...and loads of encouragement! |

| No, IMO, if your going to get a Vox wah, get a real one... 60's vintage one. other wise Dunlop Wah's are the way to go for standard releases, im telling you, i guarentee 100% satisfaction for the Slash wah to sound like rons.. I use it for that too ! and with a Tube screamer (vintage one)
give it a try.
cheers ! _________________ C'mon Shake... You Little Doll |

| yeah. you know how on 1969 now live when he goes into the chorus change (nother year for me and you) part. he kicks into that screamer, and it sounds jsut like it... but yeah it sounds just like his wah... as long as you have your amp set up for a sound like his of course it sounds great !
its a GREAT wah ! i promise... lemme know if you decide to get it. its the bet of the ones i've tried. and its by far IMO the best.
lemme know what ya do

| Not sure yet. I'm going off to Inverness (the nearest city to my town) on Saturday so I'll be searching for wah wah pedals there. Thanks for all the brilliant help though. _________________

| I've owned a number of wahs over the year, mass production and boutique, and the best bar none is the Dunlop 535. Sadly, its discontinued but I bought mine on eBay about a year ago for £55 and I've never looked back. It has a knob on the side that gives you a choice of four different sweeps and a boost switch that you can preset - the latter is particularly useful because it means you don't get any loss of volume when you switch the wah on (a problem I had with all the other wahs I've had). Stay away from the current production model the 535Q, which is a completely different, and IMO, inferior beast. Happy hunting!

| I can't afford one at moment as the cheapest one I found was 85 pounds which is around $170. So I'll save up. _________________

| Did you ever try the Colorsound wah wah pedals? I had one (once upon a time) and you definately got the Ron-o-sound. You got it so much that it was embaressing.

This one's the sucker. You gotto have the "fuzz" the get that true Ron-sound.
I have tried a looooot of different wah-wah's and I have to say - no one does it like the Colorsound pedal. Especially not the new ones.
If you can't find a wah wah with a fuzz in it, then I'd recommend the very cheap Behringer Vintage Distortion pedal.

It's really cheap and the fuzz is just downright nasty. Of course, if you have money you can go for the Big Muff (or the Little Big Muff) but the Behringer dist is almost as good and much cheaper.
And don't forget to buy really really heavy strings - it must hurt to bend. |
