Yeah, a lot of the prose was a bit too flowery & sub-Lester Bangs-ish for my taste. Much of the 60's & 70's Creem writing - even Lester's stuff - would'nt wash in the stripped-down present. Ever read his Funhouse review? ...

Nick Kent's preface in "The Dark Stuff," which included a multi-era assessment of the Ig, addressed the problem of archaic styles in his own music journalism. His stated solution was selectively to rewrite certain passages, retaining the flavor of whatever era, but to remove the most teeth-grindingly, hopelessly silly slang to make the whole piece more universally, and less topically, readable.

yeah, picked it up from amazon.co.uk for 9.99 last week. great value.
Found the writing pretty annoying to be honest but I can't fault it on quality and photo content.
love the stoogeography.
especially nice to discover my '77 reissue of Raw Power has different mixes of S&D & RP.
How many goddamn mixes are there out there!!!

I think someone else mentioned they noticed a few errors in the book.

I just spotted the most annoying (for me)

release date for Fun House as 1969 in the stoogeography.
