| Has anybody here seen this on youtube? It was live from Buenos Aires in 1996. Although I don't listen to manson, I gotta say this was a great cover. Very brutal. Stooges fans would approve. It got deleted from youtube so I got no link |

Drugs have diggin its fangs deep into him and not letting go.....been an on going problem for years...... |

thanks for the alert, PineappleExpress it does sound kinda interesting -but 'Dirt' shouldn't sound 'brutal' in my opinion. |

| Well, Ron's playing on the original goes from very brutal in parts (sounds like he bent the strings almost to breaking point a couple of times) to almost dreamlike in the (for want of a better word) chorus sections. He really goes between 2 extremes on Dirt. Nobody else is gonna get near duplicating that sound - but, that can be said for everything Ron played. |

| I agree and I think the lyrics are very intense also. I remember reading it was Dave who wrote this song, is ths true?
Too bad Iggy fired him, he was a great bassist.
Rest in Peace Dave |

| i know dirt was apparently ron asheton's fav. song to play. he refused to play it with other folks outside of the stooges (most notably the wild ratttz)...simply because, according to him, no one else could play it correctly other than himself/the stooges.
it is an interesting song. |

So some or all of the rest of The Wylde Ratttz wanted to cover Dirt? Is this from an interview somewhere? |

| I can never think of this song as brutal. Brutal means the opposite of lyrical to me and this song is fantastically lyrical throughout. it's literally incredible the amount of feeling Ron gets on it. Still, that's Ron for you.
I can't think of Ron's playing as being brutal on any song actually, the word, to me, implies a lack of imagination and unimaginative is the very last thing Ron's playing was. Unfortunately the same can't be said of a lot of other guitarists down the years. ok time to stop rambling. |

| Great tune. Supposedly Nick Cave did a cover (early post-BP solo career). Ronnie Urini & the Last Poets did a fantastic cover (in Swedish) in the early 80's.
The bassline/drums used to be much loved by newbie garage musicians (like I was) who want to leap right to the 'cool / badass' despite having zero chops. |

| How come nobody likes Manson? I think he's swell. He puts on a delightful live show. I always get my money's worth. Of all the low down trash on Youtube why would they take this gem off? Wish I could have seen it. |

yeah, you're right the original version isn't brutal but manson's was the vocals were more intense. |

| The original's far better in vocals and playing. This cover was done by The Spooky Kids (who were pretty ace), when Brian wasn't an attention whoring twat. |

You're right - I found it reading the Perfect Sounds Forever interview again.
Btw - regarding the other question asked above about Dave writing "Dirt" - in the same interview Ron mentions that the song was built around the starting point of Dave's bassline (as was "Fun House.") |
