PostSubject: Iggy & Bowie 1975 rare tracks   Mon Sep 28, 2009 6:14 pm

i was reading the book "david bowie" by david buckley. he quote four tracks that iggy and bowie had been suppsoed to put on tapes in 1975 :
-turn blue (early version)
-drink on me
-sell your love
-moving on

is anyone have heard thoses tracks? does a bootleg exist? anyone who can send them to easy action for a release?

As far as I know these songs have never appeared on bootlegs.
I would doubt they even exist anymore. But you never know...
Interestingly a reel of recordings from the initial sessions of Bowie's Young Americans appeared recently. None of the recordings had ever been released of bootlegged and it was advertsied on eBay before Bowie's management closed it down...
So old tapes do crop up from time to time. I wonder if this one ever will?
Cheers,
Richard

read bowie in berlin : a new career in a new town by thomas jerome seabrook , gives more detail on this subject
from memory they only got one song done i forget if it had a title

far more interesting is that iggy and johnny thunders did some stuff together one song of which was titled running from the pain , see punk magazine number 4

You can read a first-hand report of the sessions here. Brief summary - they did a version of Turn Blue and an ad-libbed song called Drink To Me. Then after Iggy left the studio Bowie recorded a song on his own called Movin On. Don't know about Sell Your Love.

Tangentially related, here's a cool mug-shot of Bowie taken after he and Iggy were busted for pot possession during the 'Idiot 'tour. I'd love to see Iggy's photo as the Bowie one is worthy of an album cover.

Completely unrelated to anything Iggy/Bowie, but I just can't get enough of this particular mug-shot. Jesus...

Back on topic, I wonder how Trynka's Bowie book is coming along.
