Seems they played the famed Fillmore 'West' at least once, in '70. Anybody have a date/s or know who else was on the bill/s?
Did they play the 'East'?

With www.wolfgangsvault.com I'm hoping to hear something from these or other Bill Graham venues.

I contacted Wolfgang's Vault some time back to see if the Stooges night had been recorded. The answer I got was something like "we're still going through the archives, blah blah blah" but I'm guessing not.

Thanx for the cool poster, mc! I knew I'd seen at least one. What a great show that must have been w/Cody/Cooper opening for The Stooges. I'm gonna hold out hope that there's something in those vast vaults as there have been so many awesome surprises so far, and hopefully not all messed up like their Doors stuff.

This was the original Filmore auditorium after Bill Graham left and the Flamin' Groovies were running the place, notice they're on the bill. The only played it once, never played East, never played for Bill Graham who had a bad experience w/the MC5 (see Please Kill Me for that story) and hated anyone connected with the Detroit scene. The Groovies only had it for a couple of months (they also booked Pink Floyd w/Syd Barrett) and then their manager walked off with the cash and left 'em high and dry.

That certainly dims the ray of hope a bit..., but the info is still most welcome. Rather odd they never played the East.
Ol' Bill sure had his grudges, but he had to bite the bullet at times and let groups like Black Sabbath on the bill again when people demanded it. I guess Detroit bands didn't have the clamoring numbers.
