PostSubject: ATP Report and Thank You To Everyone at The Stooges Forum   Mon Sep 06, 2010 8:00 am

Thanks to all the members of the forum who supported me in the contest to film The Stooges live at ATP. I was lucky to have filmed the show for a future bluray/DVD release. I was on the stage filming with 2 HD cameras. It was a hard shoot, but extremely rewarding.

You had to bring your own gear to the shoot. I do a lot of video for my TV show entitled The CineFiles, which I hope you'll check out www.youtube.com/cinefiles. We talk about movies. Anyway, I brought a lot of my gear to the show. thankfully, it's all tough notch stuff, so my footage should look pretty damn good when it comes out. All of the shots you see are stills from the video I shot for the film, so all of these images might make the final cut. I think the image looks great - I shot it with my new Canon t2i digital SLR camera. It was made as a still camera, but it also shoots video in full 1080p. The quality is so good that some Hollywood movies are being shot with these cameras. The best part is the price $900! Anyway, let me stop talking like a nerd about tech stuff.

I am so lucky, I got the stage. There was only one spot on stage for me to shoot, so I grabbed it. It wasn't the best angle (to the right of Scott's drum kit behind the amp) to film, but I did my best to make it work. I had two cameras: One camera mounted on a tripod that I used to focus on Scott. I only tilted the camera occasionally to change angles, but only Scott is on that cam. My other camera was handheld and I focused on the rest of the band, and got some great shots. I shot Iggy's back and the crowd reacting. You can see a little of what I was going for in the pics. The other winners of the contest had to shoot from the audience. They were in front and were nearly crushed by the crowd, but they had to keep filming! They all did a fine job. I would be terrified if that were me and my gear! My heart would have stopped if my camera was damaged because of some moron!

After the show we did an interview with the band minus Mike, who I wish was there. I asked the same question that I asked on my submission video. After that I asked Scott a lame question about the differences on drumming between Raw Power and Funhouse. I did this because I wanted him to feel involved. Thankfully, he gave a great answer.. We shot it with numerous cameras, so there should be plenty of coverage. We shot for about an hour and Iggy talked about James playing with Ray from The Doors and giving up because he couldn't understand his style and even the Dr Phibes movies! It was pretty damn entertaining.Afterwards to get to get a picture with the band. Bob Gruen(!) came in and took some photos as well, which I have yet to see. If you don't know who he is, you don't know rock music. He's the one who took the infamous John Lennon NYC T-Shirt photo!

I was told the show would be out on DVD/Bluray sometime early next year. It was also shot in HD, so it will look good. The setlist was exactly the same as in AC with the exception of Joanna, which sadly didn't make the set.

Also, I want to thank the good people are MVD who were extremely kind during a most difficult shoot.

Don't mention it. I'm glad to share this amazing experience I had with fellow Stooges fans. I just wanted to know Stooges Forum was represented by a true fan who tried to shoot the concert that I wanted to see as a fan.

By the way, the setlist for the show was as follows:

Raw Power
Search And Destroy
Gimme Danger
Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell
Shake Appeal
1970
L.A Blues
Night Theme
Beyond The Law
I Got a Right
I Wanna Be Your Dog
I Need Somebody
Penetration
Death Trip
Open Up And Bleed (The highlight of the show)

Encore
Funhouse
No Fun

Remember, friend me (Edwin Samuelson) on Facebook if you want to see some photos from the show.

The show is on DIME now, audio only. I suggest you grab it asap, cause if it was filmed for an official release next year, it is bound to be banned from DIME.
An of course, if you do grab it, buy the official realese DVD next year.
