| Evolution 2011: Iggy and The Stooges and Plan B headline
The Evolution Weekender festival returns to the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside during the May bank holiday weekend in 2011.
Iggy and The Stooges will headline on Saturday 28 May and Plan B will close the weekend on Sunday 29 May.
Weekend ticket prices have been increased for this year at £35 for the weekend and £25 for day tickets, these prices exclude a booking fee.
The rest of the line-up is due to be announced in early 2011.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, 30 November at 12:00. Information how to buy tickets is available on the official website.
It is expected that around 60,000 people will attend the festival over the two days.
'Rave like a Geordie'
The career of Iggy Pop, who's most famous songs include Lust for Life and The Passenger, has spanned more than 40 years with (and without) The Stooges with the self-titled album The Stooges being released in 1969.
Although Iggy was born in the United States admits he has a soft spot for our region.
He said: 'I've always liked the North. I like the bands too. I'm ready to get down and rave like a Geordie.
"I'm really happy we get a chance to play at Evolution. We are all deranged spitfires. Do you wanna dance?'
Plan B, who has had two top 10 hits this year, said: "Really looking forward to playing Evolution Festival, every time we have played Newcastle it has always gone off"
In recent years, the Evolution festival has been headlined by Enter Shikari, Dizzee Rascal, Paolo Nutini and The Wombats.
