OK, we've already been through this endlessly, but for newcomers who don't want to go through the 11 pages of the "Embassy Reels" thread (http://stoogesforum.freeforumboard.net/jesus-loves-the-stooges-f1/raw-power-embassy-reels-t2124.htm?highlight=embassy), I summed things up with 1 minute music samples of the various S&D mixes available.
- Original US LP, Bowie Mix, the one we know & love/hate:
- Original UK LP, aka Embassy mix (Iggy original mix?). On CBS 1973 UK first pressing and on "some" Embassy 1977 UK reissues (This one should have been on Raw Power Sony 2010 reissue):
- 1997 Iggy remix (also on 2010 reissue):
- Rough Power EP (Bomp!) sounds like Bowie mix (to my ears) with poor sound quality:
- Shake Appeal bootleg, "1972 stooges mix" excellent alternate/early mix, but very hissy.
- Duet At The Mantra (Iggy) bootleg, "1972 stooges mix", same as above, but far too much no-noised.
- Garden Of Evil (Iggy) bootleg, "1972 stooges mix". This one should have been on Raw Power Sony 2010 reissue.

Hey, thank you! This is how it should be done!
I have always liked the "Bowie mix" best. But it's very interesting to compare the different mixes! Did you take the "1997 Iggy remix" from vinyl? It seems to sound a little smoother than the 1997 CD, which I think sounds way too harsh. Have you compared 1997 remix CD and 1997 remix LP?

Hi, thanks for doing that, I'd like to add my latest mix , I hope the link will not be dead that quickly. I wonder why the sword-crashing sounds are not in the "guitar hero" multitracks, are they lost forever?

What do you think about the whole album (not just "S&D")? I have the Bowie mix on original Columbia US vinyl and the Iggy remix on CD. I prefer the Bowie mix. Is the 2010 double vinyl (remastered Bowie mix and Iggy remix) worth getting? Especially on "Gimme Danger" for example the mystery of the Bowie mix is completely lost on the Iggy remix (at least on CD).

Thanks for posting all the different mixes JPStooges.
Is there any chance you could upload the Garden of Evil boot. That would be awesome!

jp, you did it. Great job! All that confusion cleared up in one posting! I don't know how on Earth you achieved it but you even made that Iggy remix sound listenable.
The trick now is to go through them and click and play them all simultaneously – for the megatron S&D mix.
[Just to be contrary, I still think that the No. 2 Uk version is the Carrot Top mix...]

...that's because it's from the vinyl version, not the awfull CD.

I mixed the US, UK & Ig altogether [WARNING: after hearing this, you may think the Weirdness is not that bad]:
I already found the appropriate cover for this never-heard-before-unreleased-digitally-mastered-2011 mix:

You both are kidding, aren't you? Seriously, it sounds dreadful and the artwork is ugly (on purpose). I was too lazy to make a fake title on cover but "Metallic Fart" seemed appropriate!

Well , I knew people said it was better but I didn't know what a difference it would make. The person who mastered that CD appeared to be psychologically deaf.
Cover: Iggy as The Silver Surfer? Well, it's fitting only in that Iggy had silver hair in that period. I think he's probably too grounded in the street to ride the cosmos on a surf board.
