i would say it is real.
i wouldn't say that it's 1968 necessarily though, that claim might be false.
looks like he's wearing the same top as in the delta pop festival footage.

I've seen some poor quality footage in my time, but that has to be one of the very worst! Well done for working out what top he's wearing Nick, I can barely tell it's a person!!

Is the youtube poster Mr Funboy on this forum? If yes Mr F where did you find this, it looks like a pretty poor digital transfer, maybe if it was done better without the digital blockiness it could be used by Jim Jarmush for the Stooges documentary.

BTW sent me another video of the Stooges from 1973 to 1974 but this is worse in quality than this footage(do not even know if it's fake)

Watching it, I had a srong Jim Morrison vibe for a time, but the frames are a tad better on the last few seconds, and the moves and body really feels like Iggy... I'd say it's probably early Stooges, but how could I tel if it's 68 ?

In the last few seconds where the quality improves, you can see he has the same haircut as some of the '68 photos. Doesn't exactly verify it as '68 though, could easily be anytime during '69.

Looks like Jim Morrison to me (checked the last seconds)!

It does look like it's from a rock concert, but whether it's Iggy or Jim Morrison, or for that matter Weird al Yankovic, I don't know. The original VHS must have been pretty bad, and then the destructive digital transfer did the rest. If the original VHS still exists, give it to a pro; with a bit of restoration work, this just might end up watchable. And Stooges footage is always welcome!

I was looking at Doors concerts so Ray played always on the left side of the stage(as in this video)..so is DOORS maybe :-(...

Now that you mentioned Morrison I think it's him, look at the curly hair at 1.55 and the billowey white shirt, I think Morrison liked wearing those.

Forced myself to watch it a few more times as I love a good bit of detective work.
I must agree with those above who could see Jim Morrison.
Certainly towards the end, the last ten seconds of so, it looks way more like Jim Morrison than Iggy. Shape of the face, the way he holds the mic, and himself for that matter, seems far more Morrison-like.
Still a dreadful digital transfer though!

I can't believe there are no pro-shot Super 8 recordings of any stooges gigs from 68-69. I mean out of all the shows they did, no one had the foresight to film such a visually and sonically powerful band?

truth is, you can only see a vague shadow that moves like iggy or jim would... but watching closely you can see a keyboard playing, so i'll go for the doors.
