So hey there my fellow Stooges fans! So as this is my first topic, I would like to ask you all what is your favorite Stooges album and why.

Me? Personally I love Fun House because of the boost of energy I hear and I can take all the instruments apart and listen to one and then fuse them back together. The instrumentation is great and is pretty clear.

1st album, love every thing on it (yes even We Will Fall) and Dog is my favourite Stooges track. Ron's sound is at it's best here.

1st album is VERY good too! I even like We Will Fall, but I kind of need to be in the mood for it. And yes I think one of the most distinctive and best of Ron's riffs comes from I Wanna Be Your Dog.

First album has always been my favourite. The sound/groove is so incredibly intense and hypnotic. Most of all on Little Doll.

Nadja, you're quite right. Little Doll is a very hypnotic song and has quite an edge. I was just listening to it.

So from what it seems, The Stooges is catching up to Fun House.

Wonder what others might vote on?

1st album, totally. It's the most disturbing and the most inspired. It's got the rawest power. Fun House would be the greatest album in the history of recorded sound if it wasn't for the first album.

Well I agree that it sounds more disturbing in that sense.

I wonder if anyone would vote for Raw Power?????

Raw power is maybe more popular with heavy metal fans and punk rock fans, which is a little different from what was going on with the first two albums. When I was a teenager Raw Power was undeniably exciting but even then it didn't have anything like the depth, groove or seminal weirdness of the first two LPs.

Well yes you're right Raw Power is AMAZING, but it's not as good as the previous two. In Raw Power there is a bit of a decline of quality in bass and drums.

Now if I could only get more people to come and vote on this topic, that'll be great.

Without a doubt Funhouse from the first moment I heard it at a very tender age, and it's still a favourite, because it touches something very deep in my psyche (sorry to sound cheesy!) that very few other records come close to. It was also the first Stooges/Iggy album I ever heard, so that might count for something too. I think the first album is good, but I was disappointed with Raw Power when it was released. Despite it's title, I felt it had lost a rawness felt in the other two.
Haven't been able to vote - is the voting closed now?

That's not to say that I don't like Raw Power immensely, it's just a very different album. Smile

BlueRose, Yes the voting is closed, sorry about that...

But cheers for another Fun House fan!!!

It is a great album that was too underrated in its time and now it is getting all it's deserved credit.
